OpenLayers meets Map24

Now also Map24 is supported as a geo data source for OpenLayers - besides Google Maps, Yahoo! Maps, Live Local and a lot of other data sources.
componio GmbH extended the free and open source library OpenLayers with this new layer for Map24.
This extension allows for the use of maps provided by the Mapsolute GmbH. Developers are now able to integrate Map24 maps in arbitrary websites through the OpenLayers API. With this extension componio supports the goals of the OpenLayers project and its proliferation within the developer community. -

Um mit kommerziellen Lösungen wie Google Maps mithalten zu können, fehlen dem OpenStreetMap-Projekt unter anderem noch Luftaufnahmen bzw. Satellitendaten, die mit den Vektordaten kombiniert werden können. Das OpenAerialMap-Projekt will diese Lücke schließen und gleichzeitig den freien Austausch von Bildern der Erde fördern. Ein erster Prototyp zeigt, wo es hingehen könnte.
