Dr. Michael K. McCall wrote to share his just released bibliography on participatory GIS and community mapping filled with precious up-to-date references. The first document is 30-pages long and named "PGIS, PPGIS and P-Mapping in the Urban Context: References", while the second one is 131-pages long and named "Applying Participatory-GIS and Participatory Mapping to Participatory Spatial Planning (in particular to Local–level Land & Resources Management) utilising Local & Indigenous Spatial Knowledge: A Bibliography". The two pdf files can be temporarily found here, once removed, please refer to the websites below or contact Dr. McCall directly. Here's the summary he provided by email: "The bibliography on Participatory GIS / Community Mapping - "pgis-psp-lsk" - focusses on applying local spatial knowledge to participatory / community mapping and PGIS, mainly in the natural resource management / community development field (incuding topics such as local spatial knowledge, resource & land tenure, conflict analysis and disaster risk management) and with an emphasis on South countries. It covers about 2000 items from published and grey literature, reports, websites, etc. The shorter 'Urban PGIS' bibliography likewise focusses on South cities and settlements'. They are Word files but can be searched by keywords. I would always appreciate any contributions to them. They are works continually-in-progress. New versions will get uploaded irregularly on to the IAPAD website and will be found here. We are working on finding a home for them where they can be more frequently updated. I would also invite those interested to sign up to the extensive discussion group on PGIS at
[www.ppgis.net] We mentioned PPGIS in the past (but not recently), see related stories below.
