The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO),
Geospatial Management Office (GMO) has developed this DHS Geospatial Data Model
(DHS GDM) in support of urgent DHS mission requirements. This DHS GDM is a standards based, logical data model to be used for collection, discovery, storage, and sharing of homeland
security geospatial data. The model will support development of the Department’s services-based
geospatial architecture, and will serve as an extract, transform, and load (ETL) template for
content aggregation.

The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) has released the draft National Vegetation Classification Standard, Version 2.0 for public review and comments. The FGDC encourages State, Tribal, local governments, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, the commercial sector, and other segments of the geospatial community to review and comment on the draft standard to ensure the widest possible review. Comments are critical to assure that the draft National Vegetation Classification Standard, Version 2.0 will meet the needs of the geographic information community.

The Geospatial Modernization Blueprint is being created through a planning process that defines how geospatial data and technology will be used to
enhance the business activities of the Department of the Interior (DOI) in support of its mission and goals. All the DOI bureaus are participating in this process to ensure that their missions and goals will also be supported.
