Any timeline on Avoid Highways in the API?

I am working with a development team on a fairly large-scale mapping
project and we are confused about something. Google Maps has an "Avoid
Highways" checkbox feature, although for some inexplicable reason,
that this feature is not available to us in the development API.

I would love to get some feedback on this. Is this a feature that can

I was recently asked to come up with a new way for my company to show
high-res product images, since our older system was pretty much dead
in the water, and the replacement was too expensive. I immediately
thought of Google Maps and other tile-based image systems, and
eventually settled on Google, and figured out how to make it work for
Converting Latitude/Longitude coordinates and zooming in.

Hi ther, i have the problem like i said in the title, with a button im
placing markers with a click on the map and getting the text from a
textbox, but all the markers get the last text i put in, i have
searched and tried everything i can but i cant find an answer. This is

Drawing GPolyline with Large Amount of Points

I am trying to draw a GPolyline that can have 150+ points that makeup
the line. When the number of points becomes large, I start to receive
a popup message from Firefox stating that the process is taking a long
time and if the process should continue. In the popup message, it

Hi there,

My API utilizes form checkboxes to show and unshow specific KMZ files.

After loading the page for the first time, I get the following two

Unresponsive Script in Mac on Some Maps

I am getting an "Unresponsive Script" warning on many but not all maps
when using either Firefox 3.0.1 or Safari 3.1.2 on a Mac. However,
when I run Windows XP as a Virtual Machine (VM) on the same Mac, both
Firefox 3.01 and IE 7.0 run the maps without any difficulty. The
problem is demonstrated on multiple Macs, but has not been
problems with centring a window on a marker in IE (not in FF)

I have a google map embedded on a page. I have a marker, whose
position I update regularly using setPoint(point) where point is a
GLatLng object. I then centre the map on this new marker, using the
following lines of code:

I was wondering how to go about adding a terrain toggle to my google

I have the map defaulted to start with the terrain view but when the

Hi everyone,

I created markers on my google maps page, and by clicking on them, I
want to open an Info window with additional information. Now when I
click on the marker I get an info window like this:

I have scoured these discussions for an answer, and cant find
anything. I am trying to step through each GRoute of my GDirections
object to run the function getSummaryHtml(), but Firefox error console
tells me tempRoute has no properties--code below:

Hi, I see that the following will geocode an address.
geocoder.getLatLng( )

My question is how do I extract the actual latitude and longitude
numbers when this comes back.

Does it come back as a string? ahhh, I didn't explain that very
well...hopefully somebody knows what I mean...

do static maps have a marker limit?

I need to be able to place potentially hundreds of markers onto a
static map, at the moment i can get 85 but as soon as i go past this i
get a 400 bad request error.

I'm guessing this is either due to a marker limit or i'm exceeding a
maximum url length, is there any round around this?

Oh and my request is being made server side so any limits browsers

I have problem with coordinates. I have php generator for points on
map. I pass into it bounds of visible part of the map and generate
random points that hits in this bounds. Here the example: i've
centered my map to the TASMANIA with zoom=7, i've generated 10000
points.

I was wondering if it was possible to fix a little bug with the
Instinct phone. The app works fine and I'm allowed to zoom in and out
and scroll the maps and what not. The only problem is that the Search
feature does not work. The Instinct is a touch screen phone and for
any data entry you need to be able to click on a text box and the

Hey guys!

I have a small question. I had a problem that each time I would load a
map with directions it would give me the "address unavailable" error.
I pinpointed the problem, to it being that the GDirections is taking
wrong coordinates. If I add an alert() or a refresh or something to
stop the execution, it works perfectly.

could anybody direct me to a php script, that uses googles directions
to calculate the distance in meters between two points given in lat

no problem if the php script has to output a javascript to do the

I am building a geofence routine for an AVL system using GM.

The application allows users to create polygons similar to that at

Everything works fine, however my GPS unit (Telit) only recognizes a
geofence that is configured as a typical rectangle.

Issue with Geocoding via HTTP.

I'm making webclient call via asp.net on the server side. I'm passing
it the following addresses:

1990 CR-610, AL 36330
751 CR-659, AL 36318

The requests is returning the exact same geocode for both
31.318452, -87.204468.

Has anybody had this issue b4, or know what might be causing this?

I am refering to the article by Pamela Fox that uses a database of
bars and restaurants. The database already contains lat lng
coordinates. My database will contain addresses entered by the user
interface so the geocoding will need to be done when the address query
search result is returned. Is this correct? If so, when I use PHP

do you know a description of the Placemark class?
I'd like to implent a feauter on my website (the user enters an
address, and the site gets every details of that address using
geocoder) but I am having trouble parsing google servers answer,
because it can differ. Sometimes I get district in the reply,
