I am very new to this. I am trying to limit my map to just one
country, say the US. I am not trying to save bandwidth or anything
just I need a simple way to limit my map to the US in a way that the
user looks at the map like there is only the US in the world.
Any ideas ?

I have multiple overlays that I would like to merge into a single
overlay (strictly for ease of programming). Is there a way to do this
that is built into the API, or will I need to make my own class?
I have a problem embedding JavaScript function into kml file when
using Geoxml. As I learn from Mike Willians, I switch Geoxml to
EGeoXml to process kml file. With EGeoXml, JavaScipt function works
fine in the infoWindow. But the loading time for EGeoXml is very
slow.
This is my testing page for using GeoXml. It is fast, but infoWindow
I am trying to create an application adressed to our sales reps that
will create a route map using Google Maps. Now, since this app will
run in an Intranet, I am aware that we will have to apply for an
Enterprise key.
The idea is for our servers to send to google maps a few postcodes so
I want to use a GTileLayerOverlay which uses tiles of size other than
256x256 pixels (128x128 in this case).
The API documentation for GMapType.getTileSize() suggests that:
"All tile layers have the same tile size."
So I thought I could achieve my goal by:
(1) creating a base GMapType with tileSize=128 and a constant black
Is it possible to call a simple javascript fiunction from inside a
listener, when i try to do that, it says object required.
example:
GEvent.addListener(poly, "click", function(overlaylatlng)
{GLog.write("You clicked a polygon at overlaylatlng ");
function1() //javascript function on the same page
I have tried the newest Google maps api for flash sdk. It's great! But
when I tried the geocoder sample, I got the "Geocoding fail" error
message when I input the "Chinese words" in the search box.
( geocoder.geocode(address.text) got the
GeocodingEvent.GEOCODING_FAILU RE event. ) The geocoder of the

{
findAddress(addresses[j]);
}
The findAddress function is taken from the standard example.
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MapEvent
and if I comment out that function, I get even more errors:
1120: Access of undefined prpperty MapEvent
'Stop running this script? A script on this page is causing Internet
Explorer to run slowly.'
The line is displayed after sometime but whenever the zoom level of
the map is increased, the browser hangs up.
-load one XML with GXmlHttp
-make a variable from the data
-use the variable with some other function
function loadLOCATIONS() {
var request = GXm [Http.create();]
request.open("GET", "locationTable.xml", false);
request.onreadystatechange = function() {
if (request.readyState == 4) {
I start digging on Flash API and there are some problems which are :
1) SWF is working in IE 7 but not working in Firefox 2
(surprisingly :) ) It gives error as :
"Initialization failed: please check the API key,
swf location, version and network availability."
2) I got some Tile Examples from "[link]
If any of you have submitted mapplets to the official Google
collection, do you have any feedback on what the timeframe was for
adding it to the collection? I submitted mine almost 2 weeks ago and
haven't heard back (In case anyone from Google is listening, the URL
to my mapplet is [link])
Been using the Google Map Creator [link]
to convert shapefiles containing polygons into tiles to overlay onto
Google Maps.
It works great, and has been such a useful tool.
Problem is we've now got some shapefiles that only contain lines

looks ugly in this browser.
I'm trying to put images overlays (GIF or PNG) on my map.
How could I change my picture to a semi-transparency image, wich would
let me see the background map behind my picture overlay.
I use gimp as picture editor.
Thanks for your help
Are there any plans to make this available for the maps api? Or as a
standalone webservice?

- Does the Google Maps API provide a vertical GScaleControl?
- If it does not, is there anyone that has implemented one and can
provide a snippet?
- If not, does anyone have any ideas of how to implement it?

I've been kind of spinning my wheels for a couple of hours now, and so
var geocoder : ClientGeocoder = new ClientGeocoder("ES");
thank you again for the brand new feature!
However, after a quick look I've found out that scrolling in/out with
a mouse wheel on the map doesn't work just as it did in the JavaScript
version - at least on my Mac (Firefox or Camino). After some googling
(yeah), here's a "hack" that works:
