Remember the cool screen Tom Cruise used in the movie Minority Report. Those screens are now a reality thanks to TouchWall. TouchWall can be used just like a giant multi-touchscreen (in this example, a sheet of plexiglass with a projector behind it). TouchWall use infrared lasers combined with an infrared camera to tell where your fingers are, as opposed to a camera. Dopplr place googlemaps, with and without Yahoo Geo API bounding box adjustment. Dopplr uses Geonames for most geo information, but is now mixing in bounding box data from the Yahoo! Geo web service to improve the default zoom level for their maps. The JSON callback API means no server-side code is required on Dopplr’s end.

Bump mapping in AS3 has been done a couple of times before already, but I thought it would be cool to try out the effect with a seperate bump map for diffuse and specular lighting (with only slightly different logic for each ‘layer’, and that is how the light maps are calculated). It’s great to create wet surfaces or waterdrop effects. I’m on a quick trip and I had a long drive yesterday with only a short distance traveled because of rain, a couple of car accidents and incredible traffic in Connecticut and New Jersey. Lately I've been a little bit disenchanted with my mind maps. Not because of content, just because I would create a map and often not look at it again. Also, when you work in mind mapping for a living, sometimes you just don't feel like going back into a map and fooling with looking at it. I’ve been working with an architect on a project in Camden that allowed me to incorporate some of my 3D modeling skills. I firmly believe that incorporating 3D visualization (even if its hand-drawn perspective renderings) is key to any development or planning project. Most people cannot make sense of plan or elevation views. We've had icons for a while, allowing you to upload images to decorate maps, features, and your account. Due to popular demand, we've now added the ability to add photos images to features and maps. The maximum pictures size is now 640x640. Unlike the smaller image sizes, this large size isn't cropped to be a square. Thus, nothing will be cut out of the image. Over the past couple of days Urban Mapping has put out press releases saying that it now has neighborhood maps/boundaries for “40,000 neighborhoods in 2,000 U.S. cities and towns.
