After exchanging emails with Iain Holmes it turns out the restriction on building the application on Fedora was an experiment gone wrong. Iain has made an new Gypsy release (0.6) and I’ve built new packages: gypsy-0.6-0.fc8.i386.rpm gypsy-devel-0.6-0.fc8.i386.rpm gypsy-0.6-0.fc8.src.rpm Use these rather than the ones linked from my previous blog post.

Roaming around with Gypsy March 29th, 2008 Iain Holmes has written an application called Gypsy that multiplexes access to a GPS receiver connected to your computer. Debian/Ubuntu packages for Gypsy are available, so I decided I would have a go at building RPMs for Fedora 8. There are two packages available: gypsy-0.5-200803290.fc8.i386.rpm gypsy-devel-0.5-200803290.fc8.i386.rpm Install these using the normal RPM commands. Once you have the packages installed you should be able to follow I

(Crossposted from whiteafrican.com. With all eyes on Zimbabwe's election today and everyone hoping and praying for the best outcome - Sokwanele is an inspirational initiative which demonstrates how civil society can use Web 2.0 to engage at critical moments to try to ensure the best outcome. Comments on whiteafrican.com also very interesting, hinting at potential support for initiatives such as Sokwanele in the Ushahidi project which just made the finalist round in the N2Y3 Mashup Competition)

Absolutely awesome: A zoomable, draggable Web map of Hong Kong in Sim-City-like 3D pixel art style! The level of detail and accuracy is amazing: The hotel I stayed at the last time, the Polytechnical University where LBS 2007 took place - all there! (I’m still looking for that Vodka bar in Lan Kwai Fong, though.)

As many Published & Profitable friends and members know, I’m a great fan of mind mapping. I use mind mapping to schedule my days, create my blog and newsletter editorial calendars, plan my teleseminars and webinars, and to analyze the structure of best-selling nonfiction books. In addition, I create personalized mind maps for each of my clients and prospects, during our online coaching calls, and send them to participants after the calls.
