Hemkommen från ytterligare en jobbkväll ute på lokal, med ytterligare en forskningsidé i huvudet. Denna gång om att mappa mig själv i gubbslemmet. Har varit lite held up at work på senare tid.

It turns out WordPress is a great service. When I first moved my blahg here, I was unhappy about the templates. Then I realized that some could be changed in small ways (color schemes or headers) and that made me happy. Then, as I mentioned in the previous post, I decided to just move my site to WP. But, I had already paid for the subdomain. I contacted support and within a few hours they had it taken care of, and weren’t upset about giving me a couple free days of domain mapping. Great supp

I may be a little late to the game (Google Earth has been around for several years) but man I just had fun creating a Google Earth tour and I found it really easy. I am working with a teacher, looking at using Google Earth in conservation biology. As practice I created a little tour that starts at the college and showcases some of the nearby areas. Synapse: Collaboration between the arts and sciences has the potential to create new knowledge, ideas and processes beneficial to both fields. Artists and scientists approach creativity, exploration and research in different ways and from different perspectives; when working together they open up new ways of seeing, experiencing and interpreting the world around us. For the past decade, the Australian Network for Art & Technology (ANAT) has provided opportunities for artists and scientists to w

Thirdperson View Tutorial February 28th, 2008 3:54 pm Yesterday I uploaded to YouTube a video showing a walkthrough of the incomming thirdperson tutorial map I’m going to release in a few hours… actually, when I finish working (around 4 hours from now). The BSP can be opened with Episode 1 or 2 (I haven’t tried with Half-Life 2), and the VMF file with any HL2 configuration. Hope this tutorial, and specially the map, will help you to create whatever you wanted to do in thirdperson (I’m talki

Somewhere between the “most important” and “only useful” thing about the wide availability map data, GPS systems, and the sort of mash-up type things that are all the rage is the ability to actually annotate map information in a useful way by combining these features. An unfortunately titled article from the Technology Review describes a system being used in Iraq to help soldiers with their counterinsurgency efforts. The new technology … is a map-centric application that … officers … can stud

As Stephen Couglin notes, it is at our own detriment that we don’t listen to what Muslims themselves say. And so a good habit to get into is watching the various Muslim venues in the US, and there are many. This article refers to an outreach program by the FBI to Muslims in the Dulles, VA area. It notes that 56+ FBI field offices are reaching out to Muslims. But one gets the sense that if all those meetings are like this one, we can scratch this FBI effort up in the dhimmi category. Is the F

There are times when you have developed a rather complex MindManager 7 map, that all you want to do is just focus in and isolate that branch so that you can attend to the information that is on that topic. The Show Branch Alone command is a great feature which lets you do just that. All you need to do is click on the Topic and go to the View Menu and select Show Branch Alone. You can accomplish the same thing by Pressing the F4 key. The F4 key when you have a Topic selected toggles between Show
